৪০তম বিসিএস ভাইভায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি বিভাগের শিক্ষার্থী আরমান হোসাইন। তার ভাইভার উল্লেখযোগ্য প্রশ্ন তুলে ধরলেন এ সংখ্যায়।

প্রার্থী : May I come in, Sir? 

চেয়ারম্যান : হ্যাঁ, আসুন। 

প্রার্থী : আস্সালামু আলাইকুম, স্যার। 

চেয়ারম্যান : ওয়ালাইকুমুস্ সালাম। বসুন। 

প্রার্থী : ধন্যবাদ স্যার। 

চেয়ারম্যান: Now introduce yourself highlighting your educational background 

প্রার্থী: Thank you, Sir. I am Arman Hossain from Mymensingh I have completed my graduation & post-graduation from the department of English, University of Dhaka. 

চেয়ারম্যান:Ok. Why did you choose this subject? 

প্রার্থী: Sir, Firstly, I have taken this subject because my merit position meets the criteria. Secondly, I was very much fond of literature from my school life as I was deeply inspired by my elder brother. 

চেয়ারম্যান : তাহলে তো আপনাদের বাসায় অবশ্যই পারিবারিক লাইব্রেরি আছে? 

প্রার্থী : জি স্যার, আছে। 

চেয়ারম্যান : তবে তো আপনি বাংলা সাহিত্যের প্রখ্যাত লেখক যেমন— রবীন্দ্রনাথ, নজরুল, হুমায়ূন আহমেদ, সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়, সমরেশ মজুমদার, বিভূতিভূষণ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়, শীর্ষেন্দু মুখোপাধ্যায়ের লেখা পড়েছেন। 

প্রার্থী : জি স্যার, স্কুল-কলেজ থেকেই উনাদের লেখা পড়ি।

চেয়ারম্যান : Ok, Mr. Arman. What brings a major change in your life before and after studying English literature? 

প্রার্থী: With the touch of English literature, sensitivity, imagination, analytical mind, and looking at one thing from different perspectives are the dominating factors to shape my mind. 

চেয়ারম্যান: Which era do you like most? 

 প্রার্থী : Sir, Romantic Era.

চেয়ারম্যান : আপনি কি Wordsworth-এর Preface to Lirical Ballads পড়েছেন? 

প্রার্থী : জি স্যার, পড়েছি। 

চেয়ারম্যান: What is supernaturalism? 

প্রার্থী: The supernatural thing encompasses supposed phenomena that are not subject to the laws of nature 

চেয়ারম্যান: 'Suspension of disbelief' means what? 

প্রার্থী: It is a term coined by S.T. Coleridge. To 'Suspend disbelief' is to temporarily accept believable events or characters that would ordinarily be seen as incredible. 

চেয়ারম্যান: এ বছর সাহিত্যে নোবেল পুরস্কার কে পেয়েছেন এবং উনি কোন দেশের?

পরীক্ষক : ‘টুঙ্গিপাড়ার মিয়া ভাই’ এটি কী?
